23 AugRose Quartz Spheres – An Essential Crystal

Rose Quartz Sphere: An Essential Crystal for Your Collection:

Before I became a now known “fixture” of Enchanted Moments, in-store and here online too, I was naive to the thinking that I knew the basics of crystals. (Rob: insert foot and swallow it whole).

Monica is a treasure-trove (credentials: Master of Crystology – bet most of you never knew such educational options were even available, eh?) of crystal science, facts, geology, healing properties and everything under the sun the pertains to crystals and what made them what they are today.

Seriously, this woman is a (modest), but amazing woman who sees things in crystals that my eyes just are trained to see (yet!). She can tell you things about the shape, color, multitude of properties specifically tailored to your desired result and origin. To watch her in her element is a teachable moment within itself.

Now, when I said that I “thought” I knew crystals, I now know how few of the overwhelming number of crystals that are out there, I was familiar with. If you’ve been in the shop, you probably know we keep about 60 to 70 more “common” crystals at the ready for our clients, along with some absolutely rare birds that even people who KNOW crystals are sometimes shocked we have available.

One of those rare findings is no longer available, a favorite of ours (Monica, Robin and me, Rob) that despite the sale, we really had some trouble parting with, because it became such a favorite (and we each have a few that bring us comfort in store for one reason or another). I often tell people that, “You don’t choose the crystals, they choose you.” And on this particular day, our super rare Ruby / Zoisite giant “egg” spoke to a customer of ours who was ironically new to the shop.

But, before I WOW you with the museum-grade pieces, finds and crystal rarities that nobody else seems to have in their collection, we gotta start with the basics – - the foundational crystal information that is the launching point to get into the more detailed stuff.

So I’ve convinced Monica (one of two of the owners of Enchanted Moments) to sit down with me and share some of those basics with me – - to teach me what I don’t know.

And I’m officially inviting you along if you’d like to peek over my shoulder and learn the basics of crystals. And there is a LOT of information to cover with each crystal and crystals in general. But for now, let’s begin with some of the basics. Like, learning about some of the more common crystals (and most easily found) and their unique metaphysical properties.

For example: The Rose Quartz Sphere:

Rose quartz is quick and easy to identify. It’s “pink”, for one thing. By name alone, if if one knew nothing about crystals, you probably could guess which one was the pink quartz stone.

(Hint): people who are in the know and KNOW crystals (at least more than the basics) use different terminology from the get go. I sure sign that somebody doesn’t know crystals is if they call them “rocks” rather than “stones” – just FYI.

The spiritual healing properties of rose quartz (in natural state, as rough material, or smooth, polished and shaped rose quartz) include, but are not limited to: unconditional love of self (yourself!) or others. It creates harmony in environments, thus keeping large or medium pieces in frequented living areas (your bedroom, family rooms, at work in your office or conference room for example), will help keep interactions smooth.

Placing piece of rose quartz in children’s rooms or a baby nursery can help to soothe and create a peaceful atmosphere. Rose quartz also is the crystal of choice to open the heart chakra and teach love. Placing a rose quartz crystal in the palm of your hand and holding it may enhance positive affirmations and create more leveraged results.

Rose quartz crystals also are essential for your crystal collection to help soothe and aid when experiencing trauma, hardship or grief. Rose quartz should however avoid sunlight, as it may cause your crystal to fade in color.

Monica will be teaching me several more crystal basics. I’ll be releasing those conversations on this blog as time permits, (soon!).

Take care,

Rob

23 AugBenefits of Meditation: The Typical Fare

One of the biggest benefits of having a metaphysical store with lots of traffic, coupled with a new spiritual wellness website, is the fact that as Robin, Monica and myself are in store, we get to experience first hand what our customers are thinking about, focusing on and the problems they are seeking solutions for.

Living the life and practicing what we preach offers our visitors access to US, which is the round about way to say, we can provide answers to people’s questions.

The topics we discuss with our clients in the shop are abundant, but we make note when common questions are more frequently asked, in order to answer them collectively with this spiritual wellness and healing blog. That way, we can reach and help the most people at once, while addressing future needs as more and more people gather under our wings, getting closer to what they ultimately want to achieve from this life.

We get a LOT of questions about Meditation for example. Whether it be deciding the best meditation techniques for one’s need and experience level, choosing the best meditation cd, how to use guided meditation to find ways to relax more, or how to begin to meditate the right way.

What we’ve found from the questions we get frequently about meditation is that a lot of people are confused about what to believe, what works, how to start and why (such as just how effective is meditation as a real world tool for stressing less, focusing on what matters most to you at that moment and becoming balanced or grounded again, despite a hectic, demanding life of more things to do).

So, before we address how WE meditate, weeding out the myths and rampant misconceptions, let’s first examine an example of the more typical thinking about meditation and what the general population appears to think…

This is basic, but good ground to launch from. Here’s the typical type of information widely found and populated online in regards to using meditation for relaxation and becoming more focused.

What are your benefits of Meditation and most effective techniques?

23 AugMeditation For Relaxation and Focus

Meditation = Relaxation and Focus:

Meditation is a word that makes some people uneasy for some reason, and thus they stay away from learning it as a tool to bring them relaxation and mental focus. The reason that meditation brings relaxation is that it is training your mind to do away with the jumbled thoughts that ordinarily race through your mind, scattering everywhere and accomplishing nothing.

By being able to focus your mind on something specific, you can actually bring peace and relaxation to yourself, as well as having a tranquil mind. And because meditation creates this in your mind, your body’s well being follows.

Meditation also performs a number of emotional benefits. You will, for instance, reduce your negative emotions, focus more on the present, increase your self-awareness, better manage your stress, and finally gain new perspectives on whatever is causing you stress.

Relaxation of this type is excellent for your body if you are healthy, but the benefits are often extended even further if you have certain medical conditions that are exacerbated by stress. Whether you have anxiety disorders, depression or sleep problems, you will definitely see an improvement in these if you follow simple meditation methods.

Some say that their minds tend to wander when they try to meditate. This is perfectly normal, and all that’s really needed is to very gently bring your mind back to your meditation and not get flustered by it.

Others have tried yoga, tai chi, or qi gong, and have found that holding various poses or trying to follow various movements takes away from their relaxation and creates stress for them. Realize that every person is different, but that there is a meditation technique for you.

Once you learn the basics of meditation, then you may branch out to different kinds of meditation. However, the simplest ways to meditate is to sit quietly or lay quietly and concentrate on your body’s breathing. If you still feel distracting thoughts interfering, perhaps you’d benefit from using a mantra while you practice deep breathing, a type of repetitive sound.

Another method that works for many is to count as you breathe. It is suggested that you inhale for 3 counts, and exhale for 6 counts. Sitting quietly performing this kind of breathing exercise will not allow your mind to wander, while bringing oxygen to your blood, perhaps lowering your heart rate, and dropping your blood pressure.

A different time, you may work on total body relaxation by concentrating first on your feet, then your ankles, and so on until you have reached the very top of your head. This too calms your mind and will achieve inner peace.

Make no judgments while meditating. Keep your mind from actually “thinking.” Wondering if your headache is a possible indication of brain cancer, for example is making judgments.

Whatever you do, do not expect fast results from meditation. Meditation needs time to work its relaxation on you, and remember that every person is different, thus the benefits may be different than others you know who meditate. Also, your body will direct the benefits to where you need it, thus do not try to concentrate on benefits, but rather do it for its own sake.
