Rose Quartz Sphere: An Essential Crystal for Your Collection:
Before I became a now known “fixture” of Enchanted Moments, in-store and here online too, I was naive to the thinking that I knew the basics of crystals. (Rob: insert foot and swallow it whole).
Monica is a treasure-trove (credentials: Master of Crystology – bet most of you never knew such educational options were even available, eh?) of crystal science, facts, geology, healing properties and everything under the sun the pertains to crystals and what made them what they are today.
Seriously, this woman is a (modest), but amazing woman who sees things in crystals that my eyes just are trained to see (yet!). She can tell you things about the shape, color, multitude of properties specifically tailored to your desired result and origin. To watch her in her element is a teachable moment within itself.
Now, when I said that I “thought” I knew crystals, I now know how few of the overwhelming number of crystals that are out there, I was familiar with. If you’ve been in the shop, you probably know we keep about 60 to 70 more “common” crystals at the ready for our clients, along with some absolutely rare birds that even people who KNOW crystals are sometimes shocked we have available.
One of those rare findings is no longer available, a favorite of ours (Monica, Robin and me, Rob) that despite the sale, we really had some trouble parting with, because it became such a favorite (and we each have a few that bring us comfort in store for one reason or another). I often tell people that, “You don’t choose the crystals, they choose you.” And on this particular day, our super rare Ruby / Zoisite giant “egg” spoke to a customer of ours who was ironically new to the shop.
But, before I WOW you with the museum-grade pieces, finds and crystal rarities that nobody else seems to have in their collection, we gotta start with the basics – - the foundational crystal information that is the launching point to get into the more detailed stuff.
So I’ve convinced Monica (one of two of the owners of Enchanted Moments) to sit down with me and share some of those basics with me – - to teach me what I don’t know.
And I’m officially inviting you along if you’d like to peek over my shoulder and learn the basics of crystals. And there is a LOT of information to cover with each crystal and crystals in general. But for now, let’s begin with some of the basics. Like, learning about some of the more common crystals (and most easily found) and their unique metaphysical properties.
For example: The Rose Quartz Sphere:
Rose quartz is quick and easy to identify. It’s “pink”, for one thing. By name alone, if if one knew nothing about crystals, you probably could guess which one was the pink quartz stone.
(Hint): people who are in the know and KNOW crystals (at least more than the basics) use different terminology from the get go. I sure sign that somebody doesn’t know crystals is if they call them “rocks” rather than “stones” – just FYI.
The spiritual healing properties of rose quartz (in natural state, as rough material, or smooth, polished and shaped rose quartz) include, but are not limited to: unconditional love of self (yourself!) or others. It creates harmony in environments, thus keeping large or medium pieces in frequented living areas (your bedroom, family rooms, at work in your office or conference room for example), will help keep interactions smooth.
Placing piece of rose quartz in children’s rooms or a baby nursery can help to soothe and create a peaceful atmosphere. Rose quartz also is the crystal of choice to open the heart chakra and teach love. Placing a rose quartz crystal in the palm of your hand and holding it may enhance positive affirmations and create more leveraged results.
Rose quartz crystals also are essential for your crystal collection to help soothe and aid when experiencing trauma, hardship or grief. Rose quartz should however avoid sunlight, as it may cause your crystal to fade in color.
Monica will be teaching me several more crystal basics. I’ll be releasing those conversations on this blog as time permits, (soon!).
Take care,
Rob
